I feel like I haven’t done that much, but I’ve managed to be sick this month a lot so far. I blame the warm/cold/warm/cold weather. Anyhow, I’m in a The Hobbit swap at AFA, and a Cats swap at iATCs. Also a winter PAT swap (Pick A Theme), but that’s not due until March, and my attempts to sketch for my group thus far have been lacking oomph.
At any rate, here are my Hobbit cards. Gandalf, The Rescue, Dragon’s Eye, and Smaug Destroys the Town. The Dragon’s Eye one is my favourite. I used to draw dragon eyes all over my papers in junior high, so I guess it’s a bit of nostalgia. I really like how the iris turned out. I may have to do more of those for sale/trade.
And these are a couple of my cards for the Cats swap. I’m really pleased with how they came out, over all. I used photo references. The kitten one was most changed from the photo, especially in colour. Again, had a blast doing the eyes on the left card.
I’m also hosting a couple swaps at AFA. The first is a furries swap. I’ve got a couple cards done, but I need to do one more plus a couple of cards for contest prizes. I like having contests in my swap thread to encourage people to participate more over the course of the swap. Anyhow, these are Foxy Roxy the Raver, and Tabitha the Bellydancer. I like Tabitha, but I’m into the bellydancer stuff anyhow. She is referenced from a photo, but obviously much changed about. Dreaming of bellydancing, and all the beautiful costumes… Courage is a bit lacking, as is my stamina, but maybe if I practice at home first? Maybe. We have a new friend we met at Yule, and she dances. Quite inspiring, so maybe I’ll ask if she’ll give us some private pre-lessons in exchange for some art or something. That would be excellent.
The other swap is a Cirque Du Soleil inspired chunky page swap. We’ve been researching, and I have so many ideas, but I haven’t started my drawings yet. I think I’m going to base my first pages on Dralion. I love the green goddess spirit, and the pas de deux on the ariel silks. So beautiful!
