Phrixy has got our Etsy shop up and running, and we have started stocking items. I’ve been stitching my fingers off making cool bohemian/gypsy style wrist cuffs from some of the gorgeous fabrics I’ve collected in my wanderings.
The beauty of these cuffs is that you can make them on the fly, without too much advanced planning. They seem to come together as they wish, and even the shapes seem to transform mid-project. One of them ended up with an interesting dip in one side, and I have no idea how it happened. They’re a really fun way to use up the scraps and interesting charms and trinkets and bits I’ve accumulated over the years. They are made variously with velvets, silks, lace (some hand-dyed), seed beads and other glass beads, charms in pewter, brass, and other materials, various fibers, antique and newer buttons, shell disks, and whatever else comes to hand. I stitch every little bit by hand.
Some of them are a little hard to let go of, like the one with the fuzzy fibers on the edges. I love it so much. But I can make more, and I can’t keep everything if I expect to get a business going. LOL
Phrixy took the photos and was also the lovely model, by the way. Multi-talented, that one. She’ll be adding some of her earrings to the shop this week too, along with another cuff I recently finished. I have a more steampunkish one nearly done as well.
